I want to share an amazing testimony that turned out to be a real lesson for me. I received a phone call from a member of the church during a Sunday morning service. Of course, I didn’t answer it because we were on the front row and it wasn’t the time to be on the phone. A few minutes later someone came up to me and said, “There’s woman from the church on the phone, her son was hit by a car and she needs to talk to you.” I stepped out and made the phone call right away. When she answered she began to tell me her son had been hit by a Ford Explorer a few days ago. He didn’t have one bruise or scratch on his entire body. She told me that she knew an angel had stopped the car. Then she said, “This morning I had a vision that you came and prayed for my son.” Please come. It just so happen we were going to be near the hospital doing an outreach to the homeless that afternoon so we said yes will come today.
That afternoon myself along with two other outreach leaders went to the hospital. We walked up to the intensive care unit and there was Sabrina. Her fourteen-year-old son Jesse was now laying in the hospital in an induced coma with brain trauma and his lungs were filling with fluid. The first thing she said to me was “Cathy, you had a prophetic word several years ago for me that my son had a destiny and he already new what it was.” I would like to say to you that I was full of faith after she told me this but my first thought was, “Oh, God, I hope that was you!”
When I walked into the room I could feel so much peace flood over us. We spent some time praying for his healing. Then Sabrina began to tell me that she knew her son could hear what she was saying even though he was in a comma. Suddenly, I just felt an unction from the Holy Spirit to start calling him back. I spoke to him like he could hear me and said, “Jesse you’re not done here. You must come back and fulfill the destiny and call God has on your life here on earth! So I speak now to this body to be healed!” We looked over and his oxygen levels went up slightly. The next day he took a radical turn and started getting well. His recovery was so quickly the hospital staff was shocked? Fox News was looking for a story and heard what happen was suppose to come and interview them both. Two weeks after praying for him in the hospital I was in the middle of the worship service at church when I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around and there he was Sabrina’s son Jesse fully restored. I just wept. Glory to God!

Destiny
Let me just say that I was not the only one praying for Jesse. An email had been circulating and people were praying but through this experience I am learned something. First, if you have an opportunity to pray for someone who is sick, regardless how bad it looks or how you feel, just do it! Every situation is an opportunity for a miracle. Second, I am begining to have dreams about raising the dead and calling people back. I speak to their spirit even though their body cannot respond. This is starting to happen to me more and more. Even now we are praying for people blessing their spirit and they get healed or free? We are all have a body, soul and spirit. I can’t explain all of this or what the Lord is showing me at this time but just that am starting to believe I can raise the dead! Not just reading about dead raising in the Bible or hearing someone’s testimony but really believing God could use me to do this! I am becoming in this particular area what I like to call a believing believer.

Jeremiah 29:11
The one conclusion I did come to regarding the situation with Sabrina’s son Jesses is there was a young man who had a destiny and the enemy was trying to take it from him. Destiny? When you quote and pray Jeremiah 29:11 your quoting God! What He said and His promise for those He loves. I was standing in the authority and the truth of that reality when I prayed for Jesse. God had a plan for his life and this was not it! He must be healed to fulfill his destiny. If you think I am pulling an old testament scripture out of context then fast forward to the new testament and jump into the one where Jesus promised to give us life and life abundantly. All I know is what the Lord told me in that moment. I realize for some of you this maybe nothing new but for me it was revelation. Revelation always leads to transformation and these experiences are transforming me.

More Confirmation
A few months after this situation with Jesse I had a dream. In the dream someone brought me a red rose, it was dying and I knew it represented someone’s life. It was someone I personally didn’t know. In the dream I layed the rose on the ground, began to call it back to life and declared it would live and not die. Again in the dream somehow I knew the rose represented a woman who had children. I started yelling at the rose, “Come back, you’re a mother you have things to do I call you back in Jesus name!” Suddenly this spirit showed up in my dream and I thought maybe it was a spirit of death? I screamed and woke myself up!
Ok, hang in there with me I know your probalbly thinking I am really strange but the next day something amazing happened. During this time I was one of the directors of our local church school of ministry and was suppose to have class the next day but it was canceled. Since the class was canceled I sent an email encouraging the students to join me in the prayer room. Somehow my email was also copied to a member of the church. When he read that we were going to be praying that night he asked us if we could pray for his boss’s wife. She was in the hospital in another state dying and they did not expect her to live even through the next few hours. He said she had four children and the family was devasted. Oh God! I knew right away this was my dream. We went into the prayer room and I explained my dream and previous experiences to the students. I told them God has a destiny a plan for this woman’s life. Let’s claim Jerimiah 29:11 and rebuke the spirit of death. It was months later that I found out she did in fact live and not die. She was raise off her death bed. Praise God!

Conclusion
Raising the dead and healing the sick was something Jesus did. Why would be surprised that he would ask us to do the same? I don’t know about you but I am still learning and the Lord is teaching me. There are people all around us and God has a destiny for them. Take the authority God has given you to pray for the sick. Stand in the promise of Jerimiah 29:11. Let the Lord change your mind, teach you and transform you into a believing believer. Amen?

We were able to attend an international church in Accra on Sunday. We really enjoyed it. The pastor that spoke was from Holland. There were many people there other countries including Ghana. The worship was in English and included a few familiar songs. Again, due to the heavy accents and the unfamiliar surroundings I found myself unable to really focus. So I just opened the bible and began to read about the ministry of John the Baptist. I was suddenly overwhelmed by what I was reading and my heart began to burn. I realized John’s ministry was my ministry and that Stuart and I are here to prepare the way of the Lord. Just like John we are here to make room for others to encounter the living God. We are here to testify like John that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Again, like John we are here to declare His Kingdom and give testimony to the fact that He longs to baptize you with His Spirit. I was so encouraged that the Lord was speaking to me.

Suddenly, I looked over at a man in another row. He was visibly oppressed. My heart broke and I could feel his burden. I knew his story was long and he was lost. After the message closed I went to him immediately. His story was a long string of betrayals and abuses. He was practically homeless, his frame was weak, and his body was aged by years of poor choices and sin. He was blind in one eye from someone beating him up. He reminded me of so many of the homeless that we ministered to every month for years in Santa Ana, California. I finally said, “Look you’ve lived your life, you’ve been in charge of it and look what has happened? Where are you at with God?” The first thing he said, “I haven’t been to church in a long time so I came here and this is my second time.” Whenever you hear someone start talking about Church when you ask a question about God it usually means they have no relationship with Him. So I told him, “I don’t care how many times you had been to church, a matter of fact forget church for a moment.” He was surprised by my comment and began to listen. We went on to talk about a personal relationship with God. I asked him if he had ever asked the Lord to forgive him of his sin. You could see the shame as he responded sheepishly, “You don’t know what I have done.” Then came the excuses, “I think I am like this because of my childhood.” I finally just challenged him to get saved. He agreed that he desperately needed to get saved and gave his life to Christ. We introduced him to the pastor of the church and encouraged him to come forward for prayer and to keep coming back.

You know so many of us attend church assuming the person next to us knows the Lord but that’s not true. People wander in all the time because of life circumstances or maybe even come because their children are at an age where they feel they need something spiritual. I have actually run into this one a lot. Keep your eyes open in church and let’s catch the ones that jump into our boat! I left the church that morning rejoicing and excited that I could be a part of what just happen.

As I pondered the things the Lord had shown me during the service and the immediate opportunity to lead someone to Christ I was reminded again, John’s ministry is our ministry. We are all called to prepare the way of the Lord. It’s the Holy Spirit, the Father and the Son all working together that birth a new believer and all we have to do is be a voice like John the Baptist. We have to open our mouths. Paul says it this way, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! — Romans 10:14-15. Raise your voice like John who said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!” All I did was say the same thing to a man sitting in church and the Lord came. Raise your voice today and prepare the way for someone to have an encounter with Jesus. Amen?

We left Lome the capital of Togo and went to a smaller town of Parleme. Our unsuspecting taxi driver (the one looking up in this picture) decided to stay with us and become our personal driver for the week. His decision of course was based on how much we were willing to pay. Seems reasonable, right? It’s how you get to the actual price that is so different. First, there is a lot of strong arguing and debate the seller must fight for what he can get and the buyer must fight for the lowest price. This is common in a lot of countries but in Togo it was more extreme than any other place we had ever been. At times we seriously thought people would start getting physical and hitting each other. Now, once the price is settled, you will experience the same thing all over again when you try to pay and they ask you for more. It was crazy! So once we settled the price with our driver he slowly warmed up to us as we included him in all our activities, this included one meeting in a small church of only twenty-five people. Because the meeting was at the last minute and mid-week we had no time to invite others to come. As a result we only had a handful of church members in the service and a large group of children. We were able to pray for the kids later to be filled with the Spirit and they really got touched.

Our taxi driver is the one in the center looking up

Stuart was prepared to preach a message for the few Christians in the meeting when suddenly the Lord spoke to him and said, “Remember the One!” He thought about it and heard the Lord say, “Preach the Gospel.” So he did. He asked this small group of Christians if anyone wanted to get saved? Of course, they were looking around at each other curious as to why he would even ask? To our surprise from the back up walks our taxi driver. Not only did he give his life to Christ we watched as the Holy Spirit came touched him powerfully and he started speaking in tongues. Wow, God is amazing. All the other stuff we were going through, as distracting as it was, was not going to stop the Lord. Remember the one regardless of the situation and circumstances. Who is right in front of you? For us it was more difficult in Togo because their secondary language is French not English like Ghana but it’s not difficult for the Lord. The next day we searched all over town and found the only French Bible for sale and gave it to Elis, our taxi driver. We wrote a note inside and underlined Jeremiah 29:11.

He was now so joyful. As a result our drive to the border was pleasant and we went from listening to hardcore rap on the radio to gospel music. When we paid Elsi at the end of the trip there was no battle over the amount of money again, no manipulation for more just a grateful taxi driver. A child of God. Thank you, Lord.
